Chart notes
JIMMY THE HAT unhurried racing at the rear of a compact field under patient handling, angled six wide at the top of the stretch and closed well passing the entire field in upper stretch and pulled away. THORN OF HEARTS pressed the pace down the backside, took command midway on the turn, could not match strides with the winner through the lane and ran-on willingly as second best. CITY TRIPPER rated off the leaders well in hand while close up into the turn, was bottled up lacking racing room to upper stretch, searched for an opening, finally angled six wide in mid-stretch and mounted a belated bid when clear. FACE DOWN stalked the pace from four wide to be prominent with a bid at the quarter pole, failed to pass the leaders and ran-on through the lane. TACTICAL HUMOR set the early pace down the backstretch, came under pressure into the turn, had no response when engaged and faded turning for home. PANCHO SLIPS AWAY reared at the start giving the field several lengths, rushed up five wide down the backside to contention and flattened out.
