MARQUIS LIGHTS settled inside just behind a five-way pace battle, was looking for exit from the rail heading into the turn but found the path blocked, angled out six wide into the stretch and rallied strongly under steady handling and intermittent urging to get into the photo for the win. MARK IT DOWN was the middle horse in a five-way scramble for the early lead, emerged in deep stretch with the lead, but could not hold off a late challenge despite a super effort and had to share the win. RIGHT FOR YOU was held up well behind the pace, kept to the rail until the stretch, then rallied while navigating through traffic in the lane to get up for third. DREAM MONEY pressed the early pace five-wide, made a strong bid for the lead approaching the top of the stretch, ducked in near the furlong marker and went a little flat in the late stages. MAKE UP A STORY settled two-deep behind the pace, started a five-wide bid late on the turn, was slowly gaining ground but hung a bit in the final yards. HONKY TONK HONEY settled two-wide well off the early pace, tried to launch a bid under a drive from the three-furlong pole, and was mildly gaining on the outside in the stretch. QUEEN HADASSAH was the inside horse in the early speed contest, dropped out after passing the three-furlong pole, was kept to task but could not muster the needed response in the late stages. MARK THE WINNER pressed four-wide in the early pace mix, was still with a chance turning into the stretch, but weakened in upper stretch. LA JOLLA BEACH raced two-deep in the early pace battle, steadied into the turn, dropped off the pace, and was unable to recover the lost ground in the stretch.
