Chart notes
VITTORIANO prompted DANCER'S SHADOW racing along the inside, came four-wide into the stretch, had his rider strike that rival with the whip at that point, drifted out further then took the lead nearing the eighth pole and edged clear late. KAJUS hopped at the start then was reserved off the early pace, moved up four-wide on the turn, came six-wide into the stretch and finished strongly. ROJO SKY was allowed to settle, came five-wide into the stretch, angled in slightly during the drive and finished in a mild rally. DANCER'S SHADOW set the the pace while racing two-wide, came five-wide into the stretch, was hit by the whip of VITTORIANO around the three-sixteenths pole and steadied briefly when that one came further out and finished willingly when clear. COASTING BY was prominent early racing four-wide, angled in on the turn, then swung back out to come four-wide into the stretch but lacked a rally. HANDSOME RASCAL saved ground racing in the middle of the field and tired. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS INQUIRY AND AN OBJECTION BY THE JOCKEY'S OBJECTION BY THE RIDER OF DANCER SHADOW AGAINST VITTORIANO THE STEWARDS RULED THAT VITTORIANO BE DISQUALIFED FROM FIRST AND PLACED FOURTH FOR MISUSE OF THE WHIP.
