Chart notes
XERCES reserved well off the pace in the strung out field, closed the gap into the far turn saving ground along the fence in a sustained rally, cut the corner turning for home and finished well to be going away in deep stretch. LA CREMA stalked the runaway leader from afar for the first half mile, made a steady bid to narrow the margin on the far turn, drifted out five wide turning for home, rallied to the lead in mid-stretch and was outkicked late. CRYSTAL WATER tracked the leader to midway on the final turn, rallied angling six wide to threaten at the eighth pole and finished evenly unable to sustain the bid. JOYS OF SUMMER sprinted away to the lead into the first turn opening a clear lead, widenened the advantage down the backside, had nothing left when challenged in upper stretch having been used up and tired down the lane. PATH TO VICTORY was not a factor. HIGH TRACK raced mid-pack for a half mile and failed to respond when called upon on the far turn coming up empty.
