Chart notes
TANGO ZULU unhurried to be the trailer to the far turn, swept up rallying strongly turning for home from eight wide, bore-in down the lane to the five path bumping CHEERFUL TROUT causing that one to take up in mid-stretch and prevailed in a drive to the wire. MARDENE tracked the leader to midway on the turn to be well place, rallied nearing the quarter pole to threaten from four wide, passed the pacesetter inside the eighth pole for a brief lead and was outkicked in deep stretch. TARTAN GREEN (IRE) was reserved at the rear of the field for the first half mile traveling with the winner, rallied five wide on the turn to steadily advance to contention, was prominent in mid-stretch when crowded by the winner's actions, took up briefly to angle off that one to the clear and surged late. EASTERN SUNRISE set a moderate pace under steady pressure to the head of the lane, held the advantage racing along the fence clear of the trouble to mid-stretch and was outfinished in the final hundred yards. CHEERFUL TROUT raced mid-field to the far turn, rallied on the bend only to be caught behind a wall of runners taking up off heels nearing the quarter pole, angled out seven wide to rally in upper stretch, was shut-off and bumped by the winner in mid-stretch having to take up and angle out to the clear and came on late in the drive having suffered a terrible trip. GULF COAST GIRL passed tiring rivals. STROKE OF LUCK was well placed racing in contention to the quarter pole and lacked a closing bid. QUITE CONTINENTAL pressed the pace for three-quarters and gave way. METANOIA stalked the pace from the inside down the backside, made a bid on the turn circling four wide and flattened out turning for home. THE STEWARDS POSTED AN INQUIRY AND THE RIDER OF CHEERFUL TROUT CLAIMED FOUL AGAINST THE WINNER FOR INTERFERENCE IN THE STRETCH, UPON REVIEW THE WINNER WAS DISQUALIFIED AND PLACED FIFTH.
