Chart notes
STARSHIP EMPIRE stalked the pace setters, raced from the inside near the quarter pole, shifted out three deep past the three sixteenths pole and finished well to edge up under strong handling. I LUCKED OUT set all pace racing in hand under a uncontested early pace and gave way grudgingly late to the wire. GOOSE HUNTER was unhurried early, swung six wide into the lane and moved up well late. THE BEST DISTANCE tracked the early leader two deep from the outside and weakened. TEMPUS was unhurried early, raced two to three wide and needed more in the drive. COLONEL POPPY stalked the pace three deep and weakened through the drive. SAMARITANO settled off the early going, saved ground and never threatened.
