Chart notes
SPIRIT OF NEW YORK chased the pace with no cover in front, went around the turn in the three path, gained to make a bid in the four path into upper stretch then took the lead, responded well in the final furlong and held under strong urging. BLACK VOLT broke out at the start, dropped back then settled towards the rear, moved closer late on the backstretch, shifted from the rail to the two path on the turn, swung out to the five path into the stretch, rallied outside to make a bid in the final furlong but missed while clear for the place. LAWYER MASON broke out at the start, angled in while settling at the back, dropped from the two path to the inside while roused on the turn, turned into upper stretch under a drive, lacked room behind horses coming to the furlong marker, found room inside that marker and just got up for the show. FUNNY FACTOR came outward at the start, set the pace under pressure to his outside, vied along the rail on the turn, was asked in the two path into the stretch, lost the advantage to the winner near the three-sixteenths pole and also weakened then just missed the show. CRISTOBAL pressed the pace on the outside then in the two path on the turn, was roused in the three path into the stretch, dropped back into the final furlong and tired. TWENTY ONE RED was last to commence, moved up then was rated on the outside, tucked from the four path to the three path early on the turn, was let out on that bend, came out to the six path into the stretch, leapt a bit and took an awkward stride outside the three-sixteenths pole then failed to respond.
