SHOWDOWN KING unhurried in the early going to be the trailer, circled the field to rally to the lead inside the eighth pole in the six path, bore-in crowding the runner-up in the final sixteenth and prevailed in a drive. WHERE YOU WAS stalked the pacesetters from the inside to the top of the lane, angled out splitting rivals in mid-stretch from four wide, was crowded in the final sixteenth by the winner nearly into the path of AQUITANIA ARRIVAL causing that one to steady late and dug-in only to be denied at the wire. AQUITANIA ARRIVAL prompted the pace to the quarter pole, took the lead turning for home to be clear in mid-stretch, weakened in the final eighth while being overtaken by the top pair inside the sixteenth pole and steadied late when the winner crowded the runner-up into his path. STRAIGHTOUTADUTTON set a pressured pace for a half, responded for the drive battling to mid-stretch, tired along the fence and was in tight late due to the actions of the winner. FACE DOWN tracked the leaders to the quarter pole and lacked a closing bid. THE STEWARDS POSTED AN INQUIRY AND THE RIDER OF THE RUNNER-UP CLAIMED FOUL FOR INTERFERENCE BY THE WINNER IN DEEP STRETCH, UPON REVIEW THE WINNER WAS DISQUALIFIED AND PLACED SECOND.
