Chart notes
SILENT DRILL never far back, rallied four wide into the stretch, was carried out to the seven path by the leader past the three sixteenths pole, made the lead inside the furlong marker and edged clear late under left handed urging. JIM'S RIVER RUNNER trailed into the turn, rallied through the stretch five wide and got up for second. DRILL'S BOY made the lead soon after the start, set the pace two wide, drifted to the six path at the top of the stretch then was outfinished in the late stages. VECCHI well placed, offered a strong bid three wide into the stretch then was outfinished despite a determined effort. SEEKING FREEDOM chased the pace along the inside into the stretch and gave way inside the furlong marker. VERNON'S BEST was no factor. NATIONAL STORY was restless in the gate, had speed along the inside into the turn then flattened out.
