GOT GHOSTED broke well but did not engage in the early pace scramble, settled mid-pack three-wide, then was under a ride from the three-furlong pole, came four-wide into the stretch, gradually closed the gap on the tiring leaders, and won going away in the final yards. COOLTHING bumped and steadied at the start, was unable to contest the early pace despite coaxing from the rider, saved ground through the turn, then found best stride late, rallied up the rail to gain the second prize. LAVENDER EARL was allowed to settle from the break and had only one other rival beaten going down the backstretch, got clear run two-wide through the turn, finished up well, steadied inside the sixteenths, then re-bid to gain the third spot. XPRESSIR was sent for, and secured the early lead, then was joined by BREAKING NEWS through the turn, those two went well clear of the rest and continued to battle into the stretch, then weakened in the final furlong. CHAMPAGNE MIKE dropped to last shortly after the start, chased the field through the turn and into the stretch while being kept to task, steadied late and still managed to improve. SHAMAN SEZ chased the dueling leaders to the stretch, then flattened out and was unable to factor in the later stages. BREAKING NEWS broke out into COOLTHING at the start, tracked in second position through the initial stages, then moved up to challenge XPRESSIR for the lead going into the turn, dueled that rival to mid-stretch, then tired inside the furlong marker, was pulled up past the finish line, vetted, and transported from the course in the equine ambulance. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN, AFTER A REVIEW, #7 LAVENDER EARLY WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM 3RD FOR INTERFERENCE AND PLACED 7TH.
