POOR CONNECTION was closest in pursuit from inside, moved into striking distance on the backstretch, was ridden along through the far turn, tipped out into the lane, overtook the leader in upper stretch and held gamely over NEVER AMBLING (IRE) in the late stages. NEVER AMBLING (IRE) was off slow to begin, moved to the inside racing at the back, continued on the fence around the far turn, bid four deep between rivals at the eighth pole, dueled outside POOR CONNECTION late and failed to go by. LEGAL HEIR sped clear and opened up a big lead on the inside, held a diminished yet still comfortable advantage into the far turn, saved ground the showed the way a bit off the rail into the lane, lost command in upper stretch, stayed on through the final furlong and saved third. ARTIC POWER (IRE) settled off the pace in the two path, drew closer in the middle stages, angled out at the top of the lane, bid five deep but got outkicked byt the top trio. IRON (FR) raced outside a rival at the back then had to alter out when CHOSEN SON shifted out into the first turn, continued outside a rival at the back in the middle stages, was on the move three deep around the far turn, challenged six deep past the eighth pole but flattened late. IRISH ELEMENT unhurried from outside, got floated out a bit early on the clubhouse turn, rounded the far turn in the two path, chased within range in the final furlong but needed to find more. CHOSEN SON broke a step slow, was rank along the inside into the first turn, shifted out early on the bend, returned to the inside while still hard to handle, stayed on the rail through the far turn, bid from the fence in upper stretch, got crowded a bit midstretch and weakened.
