Chart notes
PHILIP BANKS seized command right from the get-go, moved well within himself unopposed in control throughout the turn, pulled further away with the rider still in the saddle down the stretch and was dominant increasing the winning margin at the finish line. PAYNES SPIRIT travelled outside another in the middle of the pack, started to get into gear four wide between rivals a quarter mile from home, shifted out in the five path making a stretch charge and closed in belatedly in the last eighth to be second best behind the runaway winner. DARK DANGER had the rail settling in midfield down the backside, still remained on the fence waiting for the cue to move behind the tracking threesome at the five sixteenths pole, dueled inside runners scraping paint for the secondary share in upper stretch with the winner long gone and fought on well enough to garner the show award at the finish line. CUBAN THUNDER (IRE) was void of early foot seeing the field on the fence, took the short way around still at the back of the pack in the running around the turn, was looking for running room two furlongs from home behind a wall of four runners, narrowed the margin two wide at the top of the stretch and ran on willingly in the final furlong to get up for a minor role in the last jump. SPEEDY BEAR drafted behind the frontrunner along the backside under a snug hold, shifted outside at the quarter pole, could not match strides with the winner getting away at the top of the lane, stayed on the wrong lead through the stretch and faded between foes in the final seventy yards. RED WEAVER stalked close to the back on the outside of horses, mounted a rally circling rivals three wide initially midway on the bend, was fanned out widest in the six path turning for home, could not sustain the run and flattened out by the furlong marker. KOKOMO was situated three deep watching the loose leader down the back straight, chased outside two others midway around the bend, moved out to be four wide in upper stretch, had little for the drive to the wire and wilted in the final furlong. HIGHLAND BLUE broke inwards at the start, tracked the pacesetter between horses at the half, came under a busy rider but retreated at the quarter pole being passed on both sides, dropped back to last at the top of the stretch and cantered in having little to offer down the lane.
