Chart notes
EL MUCHACHO ALEGRE broke sharply, dueled with STAY FROSTY through the early running, left that one behind at the three-furlong pole, then picked up a new challenge from BEECHMONT, put that one away in upper stretch, drew well clear, then held sway to the finish under mild handling. IT'S LAST CALL raced in mid-pack, started to run on with three furlongs to go, finished well, was never getting to the winner, and finished far clear of the third horse. DABOOM settled well off the pace at the back of the main pack, launched a bid from the three-furlong pole, then bid five or six wide into the stretch, produced a steady run through the stretch and was able to grab the third prize. BEECHMONT was very reluctant to load, then broke well at the start but backed off a developing speed duel in the initial stages, kept close then, bid for the lead approaching the quarter pole, but was rebuffed by EL MUCHACHO ALEGRE in upper stretch, flattened out, and was unable to threaten. KNICKS GATE got impeded and steadied after the break, chased from well behind early, swung five-wide into the stretch, and passed a couple of tiring foes while never a threat. STAROFTHEGAME broke inward at the start, bumped STAY FROSTY twice and bobbled before getting straightened out, tracked mid-pack to the turn, came under a ride with three furlongs to run but was unable to sustain the bid and tired in mid-stretch. STAY FROSTY was lightly bumped twice by STAROFTHE GAME coming out of the gate but still made the front, dueled with EL MUCHACHO ALEGRE to the middle of the turn, then gave way.
