Following a shoe repair in the paddock, WAMO brushed the off side stall at the start, vied between rivals from the three path down the backstretch, tucked to the two path into the turn and vied through to the three-eighths pole before emerging in tandem with PANTHERIAN to duel through the remainder of the turn coming under coaxing with five-sixteenths to go, spun three wide into upper stretch, had PANTHERIAN come in slightly and was brushed at the three-sixteenths, dug in under a drive knocking heads through the length of the stretch, took narrow command a sixteenth out, then came out under a left handed crop and herded out and brushed PANTHERIAN three paths to the wire, holding on by a head on the line. PANTHERIAN vied from the four path outside a pair of rivals down the backstretch, tucked three wide into the turn and emerged from the pace dispute to duel with the aforementioned foe coming under urging with five-sixteenths to go, swung four wide into upper stretch, came in slightly under an active left rein and brushed WAMO at the three-sixteenths, dug in under a drive holding narrow command until headed a sixteenth out, then got herded out three paths to the finish and brushed twice before being narrowly bested on the wire. KING FARRO chased just off the inside and then along the inside coming under coaxing three furlongs out, angled four wide into upper stretch, offered up a mild kick. COMBAT MISSION broke out a step at the start brushing WHISKEY POINT, chased four wide coming under a ride at the seven-sixteenths, angled five wide into upper stretch and offered up a mild bid. KAZ DOMINATOR chased six then five wide coming under urging at the seven-sixteenths, angled six to seven wide into upper stretch, offered no response. WHISKEY POINT got brushed at the start by COMBAT MISSION, chased seven paths off the inside until tucked three wide half a mile from home, continued three wide through the turn and into upper stretch and offered no kick. CLASSIC COMMANDER bobbled at the break, chased four wide coaxed along from the get go, continued four wide into upper stretch, made no impact. WINSTON D chased along the inside and then just off the inside under encouragement from the seven-sixteenths, cornered from the two path into upper stretch and made no impact. SIR WALTA vied inside a pair of rivals until shaken off three furlongs from home, got ridden along at the five-sixteenths, spun three wide into upper stretch and tired. There was a Stewards' inquiry into the stretch run focusing on WAMO and PANTHERIAN. After review, it was deemed that WAMO had interfered with PANTHERIAN and WAMO was disqualified from first and placed second prior to the result being declared official.
