Chart notes
PHILIPPA got bumped and crowded early, moved to the inside and settled towards the rear, came under a ride from the fence then two wide at the quarter pole, got floated out into the lane, rallied down the center of the course, took over midstretch and won going away. PURA VIDA PRINCESA stalked along the inside, had to steady off heels around the first turn, stayed in range to the second bend, drew closer from the fence, tipped three wide into the lane, led briefly midstretch but was no match for the winner late. NAFISA was closest in pursuit in the two path, took a bad step approaching the three-eighths pole but recovered quickly, drew alongside the leader with a quarter mile left to run, put a head in front turning for home, lost command past the eighth pole and flattened to third. SURF SONG brushed with PHILIPPA prior to the first turn, laid off the pace on the inside after, steered out into the lane and missed third. NAPLES GAL got put in tight along the rail and checked early, ran up on heels and had to take up again on the clubhouse turn, passed a pair of rivals along the rail then two wide but failed to menace down the lane. STARWOOD reserved outside a rival in the early going, tipped three wide on the far turn and weakened in the stretch run. GATHERED set the pace from inside, took pressure at the quarter pole, yielded in upper stretch and gave way. MUSIC LADY laid off the pace in the two path, coaxed along into the far turn and tired in the drive. THE STEWARDS REVIEWED THE BAD STEP BY NAFISA NEAR THE THREE-EIGHTHS POLE AND RULED THAT SHE DID SO ON HER OWN ACCORD AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
