SHINIGAMI assumed command setting only a moderate pace uncontested down the backside, rolled along comfortably with the rider statuesque in the saddle around the turn having little pressure applied by any rivals, was let out a notch at the top of the lane, burst away to a commanding lead by the eighth pole and proved much the best increasing the winning margin when crossing the finish line. SOUPER ICONIC travelled inside a rival in midfield at the half, had the fence waiting for the cue while drafting behind the frontrunner midway on the bend, shifted out in the two path posing the only threat straightening out for home, could not keep up to the overpowering winner by the eighth pole and ran on well enough to best the rest for the place share at the finish. AWE INSPIRED stalked down the backside ahead of only one other rival, started to reach for more ground closing the gap on rivals three wide at the quarter pole, kept on coming three wide in upper stretch, found another gear when switching leads at the furlong pole and ran on belatedly, being a clear third at the wire. BENLION was void of early foot speed to trail in the early stages, made little impression around the bend, angled to the four path outside foes for the stretch drive and caught a couple of tiring inside runners in the final seventy yards for a minor role in the end. GUARD OF HONOUR chased the loose pacesetter down the backstretch, had rivals in either side tracking the leader on the oval, dropped back unable to hold position between foes two wide at the quarter mile pole and weakened on the rail in the final furlong. QUANDALE settled outside another travelling in midfield, made a sharp move three wide at the three furlong pole around rivals to briefly press the winner outside by the quarter marker, was quickly repelled while in the three path at the top of the lane and faltered between horses with a sixteenth of a mile still remaining.
