CAROLINE ST. BEAT settled on the inside, moved off the rail before the five-sixteenths pole, waited approaching the quarter-pole, altered out over heels to the four path at the three-sixteenths pole, rallied outside into the final furlong and finished with good energy to just get the place. FUNNY FACTOR bumped with a rival at the start, raced in the three path on the first turn, settled on the outside towards the front, chased in the three path on the far turn, made an outside bid in upper stretch, battled gamely under a drive to the finish and just missed the place while narrowly able to get the show. SPIRIT OF NEW YORK was rated just off the pace on the inside, saved ground through the far turn, was asked with a clear rail opening after turning into the stretch, made a bid outside the furlong marker, led into the final sixteenth but was caught and just missed the trifecta. TWIRLING LAD bumped with a rival at the start then was hustled, angled in while going to the front, raced inside on the first turn, showed the way down the backstretch, vied inside on the far turn, was asked near the quarter-pole, drifted out in upper stretch, led into the final furlong then was overtaken. CHUMMERS was taken back between horses early, rounded the first turn in the two path, settled at the rear, saved ground while roused on the far turn, gained under a drive into upper stretch under a drive, held a reasonable striking position into the final furlong but lacked the needed kick. TIM AND SAM was taken up briefly in tight quarters after the start, saved ground near the back, shifted to the three path late on the far turn, turned into the stretch in the six path then moved further out and failed to threaten. CRISTOBAL stumbled at the start and bumped with an opponent, went around the first turn in the three path, settled on the outside mostly without cover, was urged along in the three path on the far turn then driven into the stretch in the five path and lacked the needed response. TRUMAN'S COMMANDER established a forward position early, rounded the first turn in the two path, stalked the pace on the outside, vied in the two path on the far turn, was asked outside the quarter-pole then carried out in upper stretch, dropped back into the final furlong and weakened. LAWYER MASON bumped with a rival at the start, raced in the three path on the first turn, settled towards the rear, was roused in the three path on the far turn, spun into the stretch in the four path and was no factor.
