Chart notes
MIGHTY LES took a bump from QUICK TEMPO at the start, pressed the pace three-wide down the backstretch, moved up to bid for the lead at the quarter pole, gained the advantage near the furlong marker, and went clear under strong handling. FIVEFIVE SIX CHAMP stalked the pace from the inside, came under pressure to keep up near the quarter pole, was not getting to the winner late, but was up for the place in the final yards. QUICK TEMPO broke out and made contact with MIGHTY LES, made the lead early with a couple of foes in close pursuit, held sway to the top of the stretch, then gave way to that rival in mid-stretch and had to settle for the minor award. ATKINS settled back off the pace, started to lose ground after passing the half, then came five-wide into the stretch and was mildly gaining while never a serious threat. LUCKY JEREMY chased throughout. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE START OF THE RACE. AFTER A BRIEF REVIEW, NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
