THE BIRDMAN dueled for the lead while inside, was in a long drive then drew off in mid stretch and gamely dug in but hung in late stretch. SIX GUN SALLY chased the early pace while inside, made a bid in upper stretch then came up empty in late stretch. PONTOTOC was unhurried early then made a mild rally while four wide in the stretch but was no threat.
