Chart notes
GALLANT KNIGHT tracked the early pace from the inside, well placed to the turn, angled out to upper stretch, responded well into the final furlong, took command in deep stretch and kept to task in the final yards. KING FALIERO bobbled at the start then rushed to early contention, dueled for pace duties outside of DAVID'S SONGS along the backstretch, shook free into the turn then led to upper stretch, dug in to the final sixteenth, was caught in deep stretch and was a clear second. DIAMOND MESSA settled while saving ground early on, angled off of the fence into the turn, swung five to six wide to upper stretch, closed in the late stages and got up in time for third. MR. SWEETS tracked the early pace from the second flight, ran in pursuit three to four wide nearing the quarter marker, flattened out in the final furlong and was outfinished for the show honors. MELODY WIN tracked the early pace from between rivals, got to the rail and chased from the inside nearing the quarter marker, ran in pursuit to mid-stretch and could not muster the needed late response. DEVILISH DESIRE tracked the early pace between foes, lost position into the turn, swung three wide to upper stretch and did not rally late. DAVID'S SONGS showed good early speed, dueled inside of KING FALIERO into the turn, chased into upper stretch then gave way. FEDERAL EXCHANGE settled off of the early pace, coaxed two to three wide into the turn, no factor late.
