BRAVO KATE had the lead in the beginning, took back quite content to let the new leader go on with it down the backside, started to methodically reel in the pacesetter at the three furlong pole, inched up with every stride measuring the pacesetter, pounced four wide in upper stretch taking control by the furlong marker and drew off in the late stages under a very patient winning ride. SARATOGA EMPRESS (GB) stalked near the rear outs, improved to mid-division with the field quite strung out down the back straight, picked up the bit saving all the ground on the last bend at the five sixteenths marker, closed the gap to have a chance for a piece of the prize two wide at the top of the stretch, burst between horses taking the place award with a sixteenth to go but could not threaten the winner at the finish line. PURRFECT GIRL was pushed in by the outside foe on the start, settled in midfield inside another rival in the early stages, narrowed the margin at the half, rallied on the fence then shifted out at the quarter pole on the final bend to be in the hunt five wide when turning the corner, could not get to the winner late, dueled between horses for the runners up share in deep stretch but captured the show money instead in a tight three way finish for the place share. HAY HAY PAULA was unhurried at the rear for the half of this two-turn race, started to lengthen stride at the quarter pole passing foes inside turning or home, angled out to the five path having good late energy at the furlong marker and closed in sharply in the late drive settling on the froinges outside when losing a three way finish for second money at the wire. MISTY EYED stumbled badly to her knees trailing the group after the break, recovered quickly to have the lead on the rail heading into the first turn, was on a mission loose up top quickening the tempo down the backside, continued up top getting a slight breather on the last turn but had the eventual winner bearing down, still was maintaining a slim advantage in the two path in upper stretch, got leg weary a furlong still to run and was engulfed by rivals outside at the sixteenth pole. P. S. RISING STAR stalked close to the back on the inside, made no movement down the backstretch and throughout the far turn, angled to the four path for the drive to the wire but could not get involved. THAT GIRL ARTEMUS broke inwards on the start, settled outside another in midfield, closed in at the half mile marker, offered a brief spurt at the three eighths pole outside then could not keep up to the lead trio by the quarter pole and stopped widest in the seven path at the top of the stretch.
