Chart notes
MINING DISTRICT raced up close outside the top pair, challenged for command around the turn, fought five wide into the lane, lost touch briefly with the leader midstretch, rallied four then three deep in the final furlong and dug in to edge inner pair in the closing moments. NORMANDY LANDING stalked the top quartet from inside, saved ground to the stretch, challenged from inside in the final furlong and got edged by the winner. R HEISMAN chased four deep early, remained wide to the stretch, rallied between and came up just short in the end. FOR ALL MANKIND set the pace under pressure, maintained command through the turn, cleared briefly at the three-sixteenths pole, came under threat from both sides past the eighth pole and yielded to the top trio. STYLE CAT bumped leaving the gate, tracked three wide into the turn, angled to the rail around the bend, steered out into the lane and further out in the stretch to improve position. MANITOWISH chased four wide into the turn, spun six wide into the lane and failed to respond. VOLDEMORT pressed the pace from outside, between rivals late on the bend, fought to the three-sixteenths pole and weakened. SHARP AZA TACK bumped at the start, chased between early, drifted five wide around the bend and weakened.
