Chart notes
RICH ON THE RIVER seized the early lead on the first turn without getting much pressure and proceeded to dictate a slow pace for the first half-mile, quickened the pace a bit into the far turn, traveling well to the stretch, responded when set down at the head of the stretch, was getting short near the wire but managed to hang on. KETTLE COALMINE ceded the lead to RICH ON THE RIVER and kept to a stalking position, under a bit of a rating hold through the first half, made a try for the lead approaching the quarter pole but was unable to gain any headway, kept to task down the stretch, narrowed the gap on the tiring rival in the final yards, and just missed. WILD DOMAIN got caught four-wide on the first turn, tracked in third position, then lacked a response when called upon on the far turn. NATIONAL PUNCHLINE raced two to three wide and went one-paced near the back of the field thoughout. SON OF A G Q settled at the rear of the very compact field and was unable to improve.
