MAGNOLIA WEST settled off the pace alongside the rail, angled out five wide through the far turn, methodically picked off remaining rivals in the stretch to claim the lead by the eighth, kept on. MARDI GRAS EMPIRE settled off the pace in the two path, began to make improvements three to four wide in the far turn until taking a slight hold at the five sixteenths, repositioned towards the inside at the quarter to get around a couple contenders, split foes three wide at the eighth but needed a just a bit more. SAME PLAY won the duel for the early pace, continued along the backstretch, came under pressure in the far turn and upper stretch, gave way at the eighth, got up late for the show award. SOUTHSCAPE found a position on the inside not too far off the pace, steadily advanced between foes, split foes in the upper stretch to contend for the lead but weakened late. SINGLE SHOT moved up to track the early pace from the two path, angled inside of the far turn to gain a position before making a four wide bid at the quarter but came up empty. A PASSIVE NOBODY settled off the pace, closed willingly between rivals in the stretch to improve position. ARIES HONOR opted for a spot three to four wide in the middle of the pack, moved up to track the pace in the far turn, faded in the stretch. EMILY'S BOY bumped the gate at the start to be off slow, raced off the pace, passed tired foes along the outside of the stretch. DOOLGAROUX trailed for most, passed tired foes late. SOCIAL SOLUTION tracked the early pace three to four deep on the inside, closed ground in the far turn to press the pace in the upper stretch, squeezed back along the rail at the three sixteenths. BIG NICKEL vied for the early lead before opting to press the pace from the inside, repositioned between horses in the far turn but had nothing left to give and retreated.
