Chart notes
RED HEAD ITALIAN set the pace in the two path, was cued midway around the turn, and kicked away down the lane to be much the best. DIAMOND ESSENCE chased in the three path, was coaxed along in the two path around the turn, and finished evenly along the rail down the stretch to get up for place. HOPEFORGREATNESS pressed the winner in the three path, was driven around the turn, but faded in the final furlong. IRACEBETH broke out at the start, laid in range along the inside, was cued midway around the turn, angled out to the four path at the top of the stretch, but weakened in the final furlong. KENTUCKY REIGN had a slow start, raced off the pace in the two path, was driven around the turn, but made no closing bid. INDINI tracked in the two path, was ridden in the three path around the turn, but weakened in the four path down the stretch. SMART SHERYL LEE had an awkward start, then always trailed from around the five path.
