Chart notes
LITMUS TEST paused early when crowded a bit crossing the finish line the first time, stalked the leader from off the rail, challenged on the outside into the far turn, dueled around the bend, put a head in front at the quarter pole, carried a short lead over PROVENANCE into the final furlong, put that rival away entering the last sixteenth and held safely over the late run from BLACKSMITH in the end. BLACKSMITH settled off the rail then angled in on the first turn, moved back to the two path around the bend, coaxed along up the backstretch, asked for more on the fence then two wide on the far turn, steered out in upper stretch, finished well through the lane to gain second but could not reach the winner. PROVENANCE coaxed from the gate, paused briefly behind a rival then angled in and went to the front, controlled the pace up the backstretch, took pressure from LITMUS TEST approaching the far turn, dueled around the bend maintaining a short lead, lost command the top of the lane, fought back from inside to the eighth pole, weakened in deep stretch and was transported off the track via equine ambulance after losing a shoe. ACKNOWLEDGEMEPLZ broke well, drifted out on the clubhouse turn, followed in range in the three path on the far turn, then weakened in the stretch run. AMERICAN KING got floated out by BLACKSMITH on the clubhouse turn, chased three wide into the second bend, came five wide into the stretch and had little left for the drive. CAPTIVATOR stumbled leaving the gate, got floated wide around the first turn, angled back in a few paths around the bend, chased in the two path into the far turn, eased further out around the bend, tired in the lane, eased and eventually pulled up in deep stretch, then walked off following the race.
