Chart notes
MAGIC CASTLE was allowed to settle after the break, was close up three-wide initially, then went after SLICK COUNTRY BOY from the middle of the turn, took command past the quarter pole, then drew clear under steady handling. PEPPERMINT CANDY raced at the back of the field through the early stages, then swung three-wide into the stretch and rallied into second despite racing on the wrong lead. SLICK COUNTRY BOY sprinted clear of the rest after the start, offered no resistance when MAGIC CASTLE swept to the lead at the quarter pole, kept on well to the finish, but could not hold the place. TAKE ACTION was close up in the run down the backstretch, then lost ground to the leaders on the turn, was kept to task through the stretch, and was mildly gaining in the final yards. ROCKETS RED FLAIR chased under a ride in the middle of the pack, moved up late on the turn to challenge for the lead, but faltered in the late stages. WEIRD YEAR chased three-wide at the rear and trailed throughout.
