Chart notes
FLYIN PRIVATE broke well from the far outside, fell back to race in the second flight up the backstretch, advanced four wide to challenge on the outside turning for home, dueled through the stretch, edging away late. HISTORIC also broke well from the outside, vied three wide into the turn, between foes and inside the winner turning for home, dueled to the wire, could not match strides late, clearly second best. TROUBLE AHEAD back in mid pack, moved a bit closer behind the first flight late in the turn, closest to the dueling top two past the furlong marker, could do little with that pair late, clear of the others. GRAND ORACLE brushed and was last away, lacked speed, swung five wide into the lane, staged a mild rally to improve position. SECRET LEGEND lacked speed, four wide turning for home, also bettered his position with some late interest. GUN FIRE with the pace while between horses into the turn in the two path, continued to do battle while inside the top two exiting the turn, weakened. COASTAL BREEZE flashed brief speed along the inside, was finished by late in the turn. BIGWRIGDUDE lacked speed, steered out to be four wide entering the stretch, improved slightly without posing a serious threat. TALL COTTON brushed at the start, remained back while five wide and between horses entering the stretch. LOWER BROADWAY flashed brief speed while between horses, was finished before a half. FLAT OUT BLESSED broke back, was floated out to be five wide into the stretch, lacked rally. BE REAL in the main body early inside, traffic into the turn, began a steady retreat before a half.
