Chart notes
PATRIARCHAL , five deep the first turn, was a forward factor three wide on the far turn, rallied outside horses in the drive and was up approaching the wire. DEADPAN chased the pace down the backstretch, advanced in the two path to bid for the lead at the head of the lane, dueled and drifted out near the sixteenth pole. STAR ENTERTAINER saved ground on the turns, eased off the rail for the drive, altered course from behind DEADPAN near the sixteenth pole and rallied on his left lead. COLONEL VARGO made the early lead and remained near the inner rail, dueled through the stretch and tired in the late going. SIGHT UNSEEN , three wide the first turn and four wide the far turn, was not a factor. KAKAO , in the three path chasing the pace down the backstretch, gave way the far turn. SECRET TROUBLE raced along the inner rail on the far turn while outrun. WONDERFUL JUSTICE (GB) raced in the four path first turn and dropped back on the far turn. There was a stewards' inquiry concerning the stretch run but no action was taken.
