ZAGREUS controlled the pace on the inside through the early going, met the bid from HARDTOBEBETTERNOW at the three-eighths pole, dueled into the lane, drifted out and brushed that rival midstretch, came out and bumped in deep stretch and stubbornly held. BENNY'S PUZZLE broke a step slow, saved ground from off the pace, moved out in the lane, rallied while splitting foes in midstretch, surged four deep late and just missed. HARDTOBEBETTERNOW drifted out and bumped a rival on the first turn, stalked up the backstretch, challenged from outside at the three-eighths pole, fought head to head into the lane, took light contact from ZAGREUS midstretch, shifted in and bumped with that rival in the last sixteenth and could not get by. NINETEENTH HOLE stalked from inside, chased along the fence around the far turn as well, rallied inside the top trio late and finished a game fourth. HIGH KING was closest in pursuit from the two path early, stalked inside a rival into the far turn, moved out in the upper stretch, chased determinedly through the lane but could not summon the needed late kick. STAR OF DELHI bobbled leaving the gate, tracked four deep into the first turn, got forced out at the three-quarter pole, chased three deep around the far turn and lacked the needed response. MAUL steadied off heels early then steadied again and altered out into the first turn, went two wide into the far turn, swung out leaving that bend and could not rally. SHAPOVAL got bumped chasing three deep on the first turn, stalked up the backstretch, roused three wide on the far turn and weakened. WASTING ACES pulled the rider up on heels twice early, continued keenly around the first turn and into the backstretch, followed in range leaving the backstretch, chased between runners on the far turn and weakened. RICH REWARD went four, five, then three wide around the clubhouse turn at the back, trailed three then two wide on the far turn and was never a factor. THE RIDER HARDTOBEBETTERNOW LODGED A CLAIM OF FOULD AGAINST THE RIDER OF ZAGREUS FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE IN THE STRETCH. THERE WAS ALSO A STEWARDS INQUIRY INVOLVING THE SAME INCIDENT. FOLLOWIN A REIVEW, THE STEWARDS RULED THAT THE CONTACT BETWEEN THE RUNNERS WAS MUTUEL AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
