Chart notes
PAVLOVIAN prominent leaving the start, attended to the solid pace between rivals into the backstretch run, pressed EXPRESS KID into the far turn, was repelled to upper stretch then re-rallied into the final furlong, closed determinedly in the late stages, wore down EXPRESS KID in deep stretch and won the nod on the wire to prevail. EXPRESS KID broke alertly and assumed early command, set a prompted pace to the backstretch run, showed the way to the far turn, repelled PAVLOVIAN then was set down into upper stretch, met the bid of PAVLOVIAN into the final furlong, gamely dueled to the final sixteenth and just missed for the win, while well clear of the rest for second. BRICKLIN was forwardly placed while four wide to the first turn, tracked outside of the leading pair along the backstretch run, battled three wide to the quarter pole, was outkicked into the stretch drive and was clear of the rest for third. DANEYKO unhurried to the backstretch run, advanced two wide then from the rail into the far turn and gained ground into the stretch, could not sustain that run into the final furlong and flattened out. FORTY TWENTY raced close up to the early pace while between foes and three deep, took back into the backstretch run, tracked the leaders to the half-mile marker, lacked the needed response nearing the top of the stretch and gave way in the drive. BUNTUS FOCLORA broke a step slowly, was hustled to the first turn then saved ground into the backstretch run, was outrun into the far turn, eased through the lane and walked off.
