Chart notes
WHISKEY NOT WINE steadied in traffic going into the first turn, took a position just behind the pace while fighting the rider a bid, was bottled up on the far turn while seemingly full of run, tipped out to the three path for the stretch run, responded to steady handling and urging, and drew clear in the late stages. ILLUSTRATOR was void of speed and far back through the ifirt half, started to run on midway through the turn and surged late to gain the place. MALIBU MAMBO raced three wide on the first turn, was always close up to the frontrunners, finished with good interest but could not close the gap on the winner in the final yards. TAP THE DOT took back after the start, advanced three-wide down the backstretch to get up with the leading group on the far turn, tipped out to the middle of the course in upper stretch, and ran on but could not find the winning kick. CARLEA'S DREAM got away well, pressed the early pace in the two-path, took over the lead midway on the far turn, then got first run into the stretch but could not last. BIG BERNIE was sent hard from the break, won the race into the first turn, set the early fractions under mild pressure from CARLEA'S DREAM, yielded to that one in upper stretch and was outfinished. BRUCELEA was off poorly, settled near the back inside, and failed to rally. EXCAPING THE BLUES went three-wide through the first turn, settled near the back, then was unable to produce a rally in the stretch.
