Chart notes
STREET ROCKIN seized the early advantage and led the way through moderate fractions, had another gear when confronted by a pair of rivals near the quarter pole, responded to strong handling and intermittent urging through the stretch, and denied a strong bid by the runner-up to prevail. ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN tracked close up along the inside, took a run at the leader leaving the quarter pole, battled gamely to the wire but could not get by. GOLD PRIZE lacked early foot and raced near the back, moved up through the far turn, bid three-wide for the lead at the top of the stretch, chased the top pair to the wire, was slowly gaining in the final yards, but ran out of time. HEDGE THE RISK was three-wide mid-pack heading down the backstretch, advanced mid-race, came four-wide into the stretch, ranged up to threaten, then flattened out. FLYING TEX settled near the back of the main group, got a clear run through the turn, and into the stretch, did not rally. BRILLIANT SPIN got to the rail on the backstretch was never far off the leader, then was outkicked in the stretch. CLEMENTS RIDE trailed and caught a fading rival in the stretch. CHILL THE J settled two-wide just behind STREET ROCKIN for the first half, took up after passing the three-furlong pole, and was unable to regain momentum.
