Chart notes
SOCAL RED void of speed, commenced a bid on the far turn, went for an inside passage at the three-sixteenths pole, was briefly blocked, found a seam between rivals just past the eighth pole and surged clear thereafter. FORT LANGLEY reserved under a snug hold, advanced on the far turn, rallied five wide in the stretch but could not go with the winning bid. BOURBON DANCER settled well, was urged on the far turn in the four path, swung six wide into stretch and stayed on. OM FIRE saved ground throughout, loomed briefly turning for home but came up empty. STANDARD OF PROOF dueled between foes early, chased the pacesetter and weakened in the stretch. ORTH gained a narrow early lead, edged clear up the backstretch run, was challenged from both sides at the quarter pole and gave way. FORT NECESSITY leaned out early, chased the pace while four wide and faltered on the far turn.
