Chart notes
PATRIARCHAL was off a bit slow, moved up early, stalked two wide, bid on the far turn, dueled into the lane, took over, pulled away and was ridden out. SUNSET TOWN rated the pace racing with a clear lead, dueled with the winner passing the quarter pole, dug in gamely to midstretch and came up second best. COLONEL POPPY was in tight on the first turn, settled three wide off the pace, chased on the far turn, rallied mildly between horses and got third. COLONEL VARGO raced two wide off the pace, chased two wide on the far turn and finished evenly. ATKINS tracked on the inside, was shuffled back on the far turn, angled out at the quarter pole and lacked a stretch rally.
