GOSPEL DARLENE sent for the early lead, sprinted to a clear advantage early on, dictated terms into the turn while off of the rail, shifted a bit closer to the fence into upper stretch, held sway to the furlong grounds, drew off into the final sixteenth and coasted in late while under a hand ride. SUNDAY NIGHT CODE off a step slowly, settled while saving ground early on, advanced and was well placed approaching the turn, chased GOSPEL DARLENE from the rail into upper stretch, lost ground into the lane then angled out for the stretch drive, was no match late for the winner but re-bid in deep stretch and got up in time for the place. BRAXTON'S GIRL raced close up to the early pace, tracked two wide and between rivals into the turn, ran in pursuit of GOSPEL DARLENE into the stretch, could not keep pace with the winner into the final furlong, was caught in deep stretch for the place and held safely for the show. GREAT THINGSTOCOME tracked the early pace three wide, chased to the quarter pole then was asked for more to upper stretch, lacked the needed response into the final furlong and weakened in deep stretch. DAILY GIN got crowded at the start by an inner rival, settled in the early running, trailed into the turn, was outrun into the stretch and did not factor late.
