Chart notes
EPIC BATTLE went up to assume early command, set the pace from off of the rail along the backstretch, met the bid of SANGER nearing the top of the lane, drifted out in the stretch under left handed urging, dug in while holding off SANGER in deep stretch and lasted for the win at the wire. SANGER close up to the early pace, tracked the pace three deep along the backstretch, gave chase into the far turn then bid nearing the top of the lane, got bumped by EPIC BATTLE when that rival drifted out, battled gamely to deep stretch and was denied for the win, while besting the rest. VINNIEBOB well placed while saving ground in the early stages, chased from the inside into the far turn, was outkicked in the stretch drive but held safely in the end for third. OHHH DADDY forwardly placed while four wide into the first turn, kept a wide path to the backstretch while never far back, chased three to four wide into the far turn and needed more in the stretch drive. LORD WIMBORNE (IRE) settled in the second flight and between rivals, ran in pursuit three wide and between foes along the backstretch, needed more into the far turn and did not offer a final response. RED FROST settled into the first turn, advanced while widest along the backstretch, chased four wide into the far turn, could not sustain a bid into the stretch and flattened out. DADDY WHAT IF off slowly and unhurried to the backstretch, trailed to the far turn, swung widest nearing the top of the lane and passed a tiring rival in the late stages. TOUCH OF GLAM (ARG) settled while saving ground in the early stages, shifted out and chased two wide and between foes into the backstretch, got caught in a bit of traffic into the far turn, lacked the needed response into upper stretch and gave way. THE STEWARDS CONDUCTED AN INQUIRY INTO THE ACTIONS OF EPIC BATTLE AND SANGER IN THE STRETCH RUN. IN ADDITION, THE JOCKEY OF SANGER LODGED AN OBJECTION AGAINST THE JOCKEY OF EPIC BATTLE, CLAIMING INTERFERENCE IN THE STRETCH. THE STEWARDS RULED THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE. This race had a timing discrepancy or malfunction, and it was re-timed using video technology to obtain the most accurate final time available.
