JIM'S RIVER RUNNER found a tracking position three wide in the early stages, pressed the pace through the turn, contested the lead in the upper stretch, edged clear in the final sixteenth and held sway. CHECK THE FACTS broke inward at the start and brushed foe, trailed in the early stages, advanced three wide through the turn to enter the stretch in prominent position, showed a mild rally along his inside lead that came up just short. SHANGHAI PRINCE broke alertly for early command, came under pressure from JIM'S RIVER RUNNER at the top of the turn, dueled that one in the upper stretch until ultimately giving way at the sixteenth. GIFT OF OAK got brushed by outer foe at the start, shadowed the pace along the inside, backed off a couple lengths and trailed through the turn, could not rally in the stretch.
