EASTSIDE COOL shadowed the early pace setter, squeezed through along the rail in the final furlong and held under steady encouragement. LOST DA VINCI opted to be the early trailer, closed some ground through the turn and entered the stretch in a competitive position six wide, fought on for the place honors. PLAYING HARDBALL quickly claimed a ground saving lead, continued under pressure, met a bid from MARKS PROMISE midway through the turn, battled that one in the upper stretch before flattening out in the final furlong and giving way to foes on both sides. MARKS PROMISE stalked the pace three wide, ranged up to challenge PLAYING HARDBALL midway through the turn, flattened out in the final furlong.
