Chart notes
BAROSSA sent to dispute the early pace, took command and showed the way past the wire the first time around, dug in when challenged with a quarter of a mile to go, drew clear approaching the stretch drive, responded well in the lane and held over the oncoming runner-up. MICKSWAGGER settled in the second flight, was well placed while saving ground into the backstretch, mounted a sustained rail bid to the stretch, closed well late and missed for the win, while besting the rest for second. RUGGS forwardly placed early on, stalked the leading pair three wide into the backstretch, gave chase into the far turn then needed more into the stretch, was outkicked by the top two in the stretch drive but was well clear in the end for third. ZE'BUL settled in the early stages, advanced between rivals along the backstretch, caught in traffic approaching the far turn, coaxed two wide to upper stretch, no final kick. BYE showed good early speed, attended to the pace passing the finish the first time, prompted BAROSSA to the backstretch then pressed the pace into the far turn, turned away nearing the top of the lane, weakened in the stretch drive. CORRINA CORRINA reserved in the early stages, roused four wide into the backstretch, gained ground then chased the leaders heading into the far turn, could not sustain her rally to the stretch and flattened out late. BENDER lacked early speed, trailed to the backstretch, advanced outside of rivals into the far turn, swung widest to upper stretch but could not muster the needed final response. BATTLE STRIKE settled in the second flight early on while three wide, chased from mid-pack along the backstretch, could not find the needed response while three to four wide into the far turn and gave way. ZIA ZAPPER settled off of the early pace, saved ground to the backstretch, trailed to the far turn and did not threaten in the stretch. MISCHIEF MAKER caught a bit in tight at the start and off a step slowly, went up to track the pace from the second flight and between foes passing the wire for the first time, chased from mid-pack along the backstretch, could not find more into the far turn then tired late. This race had a timing discrepancy or malfunction, and it was re-timed using video technology to obtain the most accurate final time available.
