Chart notes

CAN'T SAY THAT laid off the pace along the rail, closed in on the backstretch, tried to sneak through inside the leader at the three-eighths pole but did not have enough space, tipped out into the clear, took aim three wide turning for home, drew alongside LADY RUTH in upper stretch and proved best late. LADY RUTH settled outside CAN'T SAY that early, picked up stride in the middle stages, challenged three deep with three furlongs remaining, dueled outside STORMY GAL at the quarter pole, put that rival away at the top of the stretch, challenged by CAN'T SAY THAT outside the eighth pole, tried to fight back in the final furlong but was outkicked by the winner. STORMY GAL was closest in pursuit from the two path in the opening rounds, drew alongside the leader exiting the backstretch, fought between rivals past the three-eighths pole, dueled inside LADY RUTH at the quarter pole, could not kick on with that rival into the lane, weakened in the stretch but was able to earn third. HARD HEARTED trailed the field on the inside, drew a bit closer around the far turn, tried to pass a tiring DESPITE but lacked room along the fence at the eighth pole, altered out into the clear and could not threaten. DESPITE broke inward, went up to grab the lead from inside, showed the way up the backstretch, challenged by STORMY GAL near the far turn, relinquished the lead to outer rivals around the bend and gave way.
