Chart notes
PESO was forwardly placed racing two-wide, came three-wide into the stretch, took the lead nearing the eighth pole, came in nearing the sixteenth pole and prevailed. BLUEGRASS GO GO was allowed to settle racing three-wide, came four-wide into the stretch and finished strongly. D K'S CROWN was close-up racing along the inside, came two-wide into the stretch, steadied in tight nearing the sixteenth pole and finished willingly when clear. CONRAD MEADOWS saved ground setting the pace to the eighth pole and weakened/. ROYAL HALO was unhurried, came three-wide into the stretch but was unable to seriously threaten THE TRAINER OF D K'S CROWN LODGED AN OBJECTION AGAINST PESO AND THE STEWARDS ALSO CONDUCTED AN INQUIRY INTO THE INCIDENT BUT AFTER VIEWING THE FILMS RULED THAT D K'S CROWN WAS NOT COST A CHANCE TO IMPROVE HIS POSITION AND MADE NO CHANGE TO THE ORDER OF FINISH.
