Chart notes
SHEA BRENNAN stepped to the front and showed the way along the inside early, controlled the pace to the far turn, met the bid from COACH CRONIN with three furlongs remaining, maintained command in the two path around the far turn, disposed of COACH CRONIN past the three-sixteenths pole and drew away in the final furlong. SPEEDY WILSON settled along the inside, drew closer on the backstretch, came under a ride at the five-sixteenths pole, rallied into second past the eighth pole but was no match for his stablemate. COACH CRONIN was prominent early in the three path around the clubhouse turn, followed closely from outside in the middle stages, confronted SHEA BRENNA at the three-eighths pole, fought to upper stretch, could not sustain the challenge past the three-sixteenths marker, flattened in the late stages but was able to save third. WHISKYGINANDBRANDY stalked from inside then moved to the two path on the clubhouse turn, tried bid between the top pair but lacked room and had to take up at the three-eighths pole, chased three wide into the lane, tipped out at the top of the stretch and could not rally. BARELY FUNTIONAL settled outside a rival, followed in range three deep into the far turn, spun four into the lane and weakened. THE RIDER ABOARD WHISKYGINANDBRANDY LODGED AN OBJECTION AGAINST COACH CRONIN FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE ON THE FAR TURN. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED THAT WHISKYGINANDBRANDY CAUSED HIS OWN PROBLEMS BY TRYING TO RALLY THROUGH A TIGHT SPOT WITHOUT SUFFICIENT ROOM AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
