Chart notes
AZTECA STORM raced inside in the second flight, lacked a clear path on the turn, but waited patiently, then got an opening at the head of the stretch, went to the front, and held off a fast closing rival on the inside. GALLABYE was devoid of early speed and was the distant early trailer, made a sustained late rally to be up for the place and a threat to the eventual winner. CHIEF DUST MAKER was up in the early pace scramble, but was outfinished while saving third. MR PAYROLL broke best and jumped out to the early lead, turned for home with a clear advantage, but shortened strides in the final furlong and was overtaken. STRAIGHT DROPBILLY was near the back early, launched a bid late on the turn, came six-wide into the stretch and finished up well but was never a serious threat. ONE SURE HIT pressed the early pace three-wide in the initial furlong, loomed close up but always wide, then went a bit flat in the stretch and was unable to threaten. OAK HILL BOY was three-wide in the tracking group early on, started a forward move under a ride and three-wide on the turn, swung five-wide into the stretch, but lacked a late kick. A SOLDIERS PAL broke a bit awkwardly, dropped back after an even beginning, struggled to keep up on the turn and failed to menace.
