Chart notes
EL DIAMANTE NEGRO , off last when hopping at the break, recovered and rushed up four deep to be close into the first turn, drafted back five wide off the embattled leaders through the backstretch run, responded when cued and picked up steam leaving the far turn, rolled up five wide to bid nearing the quarter pole, asserted himself soon into the stretch and drew away under a solid drive. HUSKER BUTCH angled out after the start and was sent up between foes, vied three wide outside a rival, poked a head in front leaving the five eighths, edged away slightly leaving the far turn, was reengaged from both sides, battled into the lane, failed to go on with the winner but kept on with effort to hold down the place. SMOOTHDINI , three wide between foes into the first turn, stalked the dueling leaders while four wide, was under pressure leaving the three eighths but failed to generate the needed finish. REQUISITION , off the pace while saving ground, angled out leaving the far turn, chased well wide into the stretch but failed to rally. NORTHWIND cleared in the opening strides then dropped in, was joined leaving the seven eighths, dueled from the three quarter pole to about upper stretch then weakened.
