MIDNIGHT BULLET broke outward, was hustled for early speed, set the pace in the two path on the turn while prompted by WILKIN COUNTY to his outside, turned that foe away when driven in upper stretch, and ran on under a hand ride in the late stages to prove best. WILKIN COUNTY switched sharply outward in the opening half furlong, was sent just past the half-mile mark to go with MIDNIGHT BULLET, prompted the pace outside that foe in the three path around the turn while opening up a gaping advantage on the other two runners, went to a drive in upper stretch, raced a bit greenly and could not match MIDNIGHT BULLET, but chased on with interest to be a clear second best. DIABLO'S D'ETAT broke last, chased well behind the leading pair in the four path on the turn, and proved no threat in the lane. BOLD DASHER was anxious in the gate but was passed fit to run after being evaluated by the veterinarians, settled at the rear, chased at the rear in the two to three path far behind the top two horses on the turn, and had no bid in the lane.
