Chart notes
ELDER MACK saved ground setting the early pace, drifted out during the drive and prevailed under strong handling. GOLDEN RIVER tracked ELDER MACK racing two-wide, offered a bid nearing the quarter pole, disputed the issue from that point while being carried out by ELDER MACK and finished strongly in a game effort. ELEGANT BOY raced in the middle of the field while two-wide and finished in a mild rally. COUNTERACT bobbled at the start then settled while racing three-wide and finished well in a steady effort. EL BROMISTA was close-up early racing along the inside but lacked a rally. STANFORD BAY stumbled at the start then moved up to be forwardly placed early racing two-wide and weakened. SMILING GOODBYE was unhurried, rallied four-wide into the stretch and failed to be a factor. THE TRAINER OF GOLDEN RIVER LODGED AN OBJECTION AGAINST ELDER MACK BUT AFTER VIEWING THE FILMS THE STEWARDS RULED THAT GOLDEN RIVER WAS NOT COST A POSITION AND MADE NO CHANGE IN THE ORDER OF FINISH.
