Chart notes

HOPE'S ALIVE bobbled ever so slightly at the start but promptly went to the fore and shifted in to set the pace, gradually extended the advantage up the backstretch and into the far turn, had a commanding lead coming to the top of the stretch at which point the rider looked back for competition but found none, was geared down through the stretch and never asked. GANGLY got away well, chased the winner from outside, was ridden along at the five- and one-half to keep up, proved no match but turned away a challenger to secure the place. HIGHLY POTENT was reserved at the rear into the first turn, switched out and was in pursuit from outside up the backstretch, weakened in the stretch. SOBIESKI saved ground early, dropped back and was not a factor. This race had a timing discrepancy or malfunction and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
