Chart notes
SHORTSTOP settled in behind the leader into the first turn stalking two to three wide, bid at the half, drew away in the stretch. BILDERBERG broke a step slowly, was caught about five wide through the first turn, advanced outside rivals up the backstretch reaching contention on the far turn, came in a bit in upper stretch and was no match for the winner but held the place. STEVE got away well and was up close heading into the first turn, switched out and stalked from off the pace, was forced wider on the far turn fanning eight deep into upper stretch and gaining some but evened out in the lane. GRANDSONSAM lacked early speed bringing up the rear, swung wide leaving the far turn, passed tired rivals. ARKY ROAD was kept off the rail racing about mid-pack in the three path into the first turn, moved in and out heading to the far turn, failed to menace running one-paced. CUTLASS KING was up close stalking three to four wide, dropped back and faded. NATIONS DREAM was caught four wide into the first turn, dropped off racing last but one and kept removed from the inside, was never near enough to threaten. W W STAR moved clear and shifted in to set the pace from off the rail into the first turn, steadied slightly appearing to step awkwardly about the six- and one-half, continued with a pressured pace up the backstretch, retreated at the seven-sixteenths after appearing again to take an awkward step around standing water.
