Chart notes
SHORTSTOP advanced along the rail to the turn, assumed command and drew off past the eighth pole under mild urging. SMOOTH N SILKY settled off the pace, swung wide entering the stretch and offered a mild bid to get up late for place while no threat to the winner. WARRIOR OF GOLD moved up inside to set a pressured pace to the turn, dropped back, came up empty late and settled for show. GOD GUNS N GUTS was off a step slowly, trailed the field and passed a tiring rival. LARRY THE POET broke out while getting away well, led early, pressed the pace to the turn, dropped back, bore out and gave way.
